What is the EU’s General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR)?

The European Union's General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR), formally Regulation (EU) 2023/988, is a modernized, overarching legal framework designed to ensure that all non-food consumer products placed on the EU market are safe. It replaced the previous General Product Safety Directive and is directly applicable across all EU Member States starting December 13, 2024.

In addition, it is worth noting that the GPSR mandates the appointment of a "Responsible Person" (an EU-based manufacturer, importer, authorized representative, or fulfillment service provider) to act as a point of contact for compliance and market surveillance authorities.
